Club Activities: Positions are always open to club members to help with various aspects of club functions. In particular, we need and encourage members to join the board and take part in planning activities for the year; to help with community outreach events such as staffing club tables at local festivals, assisting with tours of the butterfly garden, and bringing butterfly education to school children; and to volunteer in our butterfly garden.
Our Butterfly Garden: Come and get your hands dirty on Friday mornings in our club’s butterfly garden at the Sarasota Garden Club, 1131 Boulevard of the Arts. The Catherine and Richard Labrie Butterfly Garden was started in 1992 and for the past decades has provided an area of calm where the public can view butterflies flying free, giving them a chance to appreciate a bit of nature in a downtown- landscape. The garden is open to the public, free of charge, 7 days a week. The garden is always in need of tender loving care and is maintained solely by volunteers. You do need to be a club member to work in the garden. Contact us for more information.
Adopt a Section of the Butterfly Garden as part of our Adopt-a-Garden Program. Miss your garden? Getting your hands in the dirt? Spending time outside surrounded by nature? Then consider adopting a section of the butterfly garden! Sarasota County Butterfly Club members can adopt a section of the Catherine and Richard Labrie Butterfly Garden at the Sarasota Garden Club, 1131 Boulevard of the Arts, Sarasota, FL 34236. Learn more about the program here.
Donate to the Club
As a chapter of NABA, the Sarasota County Butterfly Club receives only 10% of NABA/club membership dues and therefore operates solely on donations and fund-raising to support club activities and the butterfly garden. Since the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic, for the safety of its members and guests, the Club had to cancel its main fundraiser for the past two years. With suspension of in-person meetings for most of 2021, the Club did not gain funds through its monthly raffles. Now more than ever, monetary donations are needed. A donation of $10 can buy several plants for the butterfly garden, a donation of $25 can purchase 10 bags of mulch, while a donation of $50 will provide an honorarium for guest speakers at our program meetings. Please consider making a donation by sending a check to the Sarasota County Butterfly Club, 1131 Boulevard of the Arts, Sarasota, FL 34236. Our butterflies thank you!

Planned Giving
Estate planning isn’t only for the wealthy. If you have an interest in charitable giving, you may want to provide for the causes you care about. To create your estate plan, you will need to work with an attorney who specializes in wills, trusts, or estate planning.
A gift to the Sarasota County Butterfly Club can make a significant impact on our ability to continue our mission and support the conservation of butterflies, and there are a number of ways to include SCBC in your estate plan. If you might consider it a gift to our organization, we would be delighted to work with you and your advisors to explore the many options. For more information, please Contact Us Here.
