Go to and choose the  “Host Plants for Sarasota County Butterflies” link.

This handout is from a 2017 Sarasota County Butterfly Program Host Plants for Frequently Seen Sarasota Butterflies. It is a list of host plants shown alphabetically by Common Name for 15 frequently seen butterflies in the Sarasota area. It includes the plant’s scientific or latin name, highlights those that are invasive and should not be planted, then cross-references them (shown by a “1” in the grid) to the butterflies that use those plants as a “host” for their caterpillars. The handout also lists several books and websites that are useful resources to learn about these specific butterflies and host plants.
